Monitoring fire alarms and security systems
24 hour monitoring of these systems is done at a remote location that receives signals from a system and responds with approiate dispatch and notification. These monitoring stations are fully staffed and manned 24 hours a day 7 days a week all year long to provide the required services. Most monitoring stations are also listed by "Underwriters Laboratories" (ULC) to maintain a high level of service for dispatch of the fire department and/or security personnel. Multiple methods of delivering these signals to the monitoring station are used; this can be from conventional telephone lines, cellular technology, radio signals, internet and dedicated lease lines.
